How To Style a Chain Link Necklace

How to wear chain link necklaces

Link necklaces are a beautiful blend of the feminine and masculine. And it's this duality - the strength and the elegance - that make chain link necklaces a  jewelry box staple.

Many of my designs are inspired by structures in the world around us, and chain links are as versatile in the world of style as they are in our environment; they’re ubiquitous and no-fuss. And as a fashion piece, the bold link aesthetic has made a statement in just about every culture corner of the globe, from Ancient Egypt, to Hollywood’s hip hop scene, to the royal family. No matter your style, a link necklace can be a forever piece to curate as a part of your jewelry edit.

Our link jewelry at TACORI incorporates meticulous hand-hewn details and diamond studding; giving it a distinctively bold and feminine element. So with our Crescent Eclipse Collection and TACORI Allure Collection as my muses, I'll share my favorite everyday ways to style wonderfully versatile link necklaces.

Wear a Link Alone

This is my favorite way to style a chain link necklace, because a link necklace worn on its own is simple and elegant. The beauty of the Crescent Eclipse’s solid link chains adorned with pavé set diamonds is that they don’t need accompaniment to shine. Worn solo, a chain link necklace becomes the centerpiece and highlights craftsmanship. I love both a gold large link necklace paired with a low-cut top that adds definition to a collarbone, or a petite link necklace layered on top of a dark turtleneck.

Layer Links on Links

Links are the antithesis of clutter and noise. They’re distinctive in their clean, smooth, and understated design. They can stack up and down without overwhelming the visual senses.

Link necklaces are unfussy, so go ahead... mix widths and sizes. Thinner, delicate links will layer with bolder and larger ones in a beautiful, depth-adding juxtaposition. By layering necklaces of different lengths, each chain lies flat in a clean display.

Wear Not-Your-Average Links

The versatility of a link necklace allows us designers to think outside the box; so in the TACORI Allure collection, we engraved petite links with Crescent detailing to add enthralling texture. In some styles, we also patterned these petite links with frames that enthrall emerald-cut diamonds or Sky Blue Topaz. When classic elements with this distinctly modern, innovative design, you get a sophisticated necklaces that can dress up or dress down any attire.

Pair Links & Diamonds

A link necklace and a diamond necklace: a staple and a classic. The bold and chunky link enhances the delicate sparkle of a string of diamond, and this contrast highlights each piece's unique features. Together, they manage to stand out more together than they might individually.

Unlike a typical diamond necklace, TACORI diamond necklaces catch the light from every angle thanks to diamond and milgrain detailing on the silhouette.

Pendants and Texture

A chain link necklace and a pendant layered together creates a beautiful synergy - the links bring the texture and the pendant leads the eye to a centered focal point.

The texture-giving links twist and turn in dynamic light reflections, because  every angle offers a new surface for light to play on. Better yet, the pavé-set diamonds of the links in the Crescent Eclipse collection add sparkle and bring even more dimension.

One of my favorite new additions to the Crescent Eclipse collection is this double link pendant, which features two intertwined links. This style comes decorated in milgrain, or milgrain and diamonds. It carries the Crescent Eclipse design language to a unique pendant.

My best piece of advice for styling any kind of jewelry is to invest in high-quality pieces, and build your style and edit slowly. Because just as confidence grows quietly and steadily, so does the understanding and appreciation of what jewelry pieces best reflect your personal style. I invite you to explore our handcrafted designs, made right at home in our California Design Studios.
